As a graphic designer, Laila Cassim sheds light to the communicative essence of design. By introducing her experience at a sheltered workshop, she illustrates how empowering visual expressions can be, for those who are otherwise marginalized.
Laila Cassim aims to solve challenging social situations through the power of design. Through design, she collaborates with sheltered workshops both in Japan and abroad to help them establish financial independence and social empowerment. She earned her Ph.D from the Tokyo University of the Arts and is currently a research associate at the University of Tokyo Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology.
