Geroscience is an interdisciplinary field that aims to understand the relationship between aging and age-related diseases. Because aging is the major risk factor for most non-genetic chronic diseases, an understanding of the role of aging in the onset of disease should open up new avenues for disease prevention and cures.

Sebastian Aguiar is a Fulbright Research Fellow in the Telomeres and Genomic Stability Lab at the Gulbenkian Institute in Portugal and a pharmacology MSc student at the University of Oxford (Balliol). He conducted research at The Buck Institute for Research on Aging, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and at the Claremont Colleges. He received his B.A. in Human Biology (honors) from Pitzer College, Claremont and he is a member of the SENS Research Foundation.
