Resolving discord through punk music? You don't have to like this particular music genre to appreciate the universal longing for peace. Trying to live up to impossible standards was the theme of Punk Rocker Emma Simons-Araya's life until she realized it didn't have to be so. In this compelling talk, the 17-year-old musician/ performer insightfully describes just how she finally broke free of the reigns of her own stifling perceptions to be her authentic self. Inspiring, funny and courageous. Punk rock fan or not, this is a must-see for any one who has ever struggled with living up to societal standards. In thespirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
