How a team of Quaker activists challenged a major bank supporting mountaintop removal in the mining industry.
Author and board leader of the Earth Quaker Action Team, Eileen Flanagan shares what she has learned about the power of ordinary people taking action together.
A spiritual writer for over twenty years, Eileen Flanagan brought her children to peace marches and vigils until she began to lose hope that such actions made a difference. Feeling increasing despair about climate change and our politicians' unwillingness to address it, she found new hope when she joined Earth Quaker Action Team, where she participated in a successful campaign to pressure a major bank to stop financing mountaintop removal coal mining. Her third book, Renewable: One Woman's Search for Simplicity, Faithfulness, and Hope, tells the story of Eileen's midlife journey to nonviolent direct action for climate justice.
