I didn’t seek poetry but poetry sought me”. Wanting to create a new reality, Naki spoke on how her coming back to Ghana helped her write this reality and also learned that poets are also pilots who navigate through people with their words showing how poetry affects the different classes of people in the world, and all of this was prior to her splendid stage performance to demonstrate her mastery.
A daughter of Ghanaian royalty and an American coal miner, Naki has studied historic writers which introduced her to her mentor during her freshman year in college. The poet Naki, found her voice and quickly became a highly requested artist on campus, and also took the community with a poetic call that required response. Performed with hip hop and Grammy nominated artists whiles achieving academically, Naki believed that poetry was her outlet on a platform for creative expression.
