Aatish is an entrepreneur with a passion for startups that take novel approaches to the war on poverty. He currently sits on the boards of three non-profits and has over 15 years of experience working with low-income families in cities across the country on issues ranging from education and literacy to homelessness. Currently his non-profit, Compass Working Capital, focuses on fighting the perverse disincentives to exit poverty that many social programs create and replacing them with programs that fundamentally invest in the capability, dignity and aspirations of low-income families. In thespirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
