For the first time in history, the United States Food and Drug Administration has been tasked with regulating a product that kills people: tobacco. Believe it or not, tobacco remains the leading cause of preventable death and a major health crisis in the US. Young people are still flocking to tobacco and new products such as e-cigarettes and vaping are seeing increased usage. The FDA's Kathy Crosby says we need to learn from the Mad Men that made cigarettes so popular in the first place, and use advertising and powerful messaging to fight tobacco usage.

Kathleen Crosby is currently Director of the Office of Health Communication and Education at the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP) of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The Office of Health Communication and Education at CTP is responsible for public education, stakeholder education, and information programs to assure success in all aspects of FDA’s implementation of the Tobacco Control Act.
