Tammy Tibbetts on "The New Face of Philanthropy" at TEDxBerlin 2016. For more information visit http://www.tedxberlin.de.
As CEO, Tammy Tibbetts oversees business and fundraising, communications and PR, and brand partnerships for She's the First, which provides scholarships to girls in low-income countries with the goal of creating first-generation graduates and our next generation of global leaders.
Almost 7 years ago, Tammy had the small, simple idea to start She’s the First as a social media campaign. She shared it with a Facebook friend, who is now her co-founder, Christen Brandt. On November 1, 2009, they launched as a YouTube video called "She's the First." That one video became a movement that now reaches millions and has funded over 2,000 annual scholarships for 750+ girls in 11 countries. She's the First also has 200+ chapters at high schools and universities, mostly across the U.S. A staff of five, along with an incredibly supportive Board, Junior Board, and volunteer base, is located in New York City.
