There is one juvenile detention center in Thailand that does not have a door. In this detention center, the adolescents are not forced to wear prison uniforms. They make their own decisions on what to wear, and what to do with their hair. In this talk, Thicha argues that her ‘juvenile delinquents’ do have seeds of goodness within them; they just need a little more sunlight and water to grow stronger, and perhaps a little help preventing school dropouts would reduce the number of youths needing to enter her center dramatically.
Thicha "Mon" na Nakorn is the Director of Ban Kanchanapisek Juvenile Vocational Training Centre for Boys. Her story of how she ran the center was portrayed in the well known book called Children Grows Towards Light, a bestseller published over six times to date.
